Finnabir`s December Art Recipe

Hello everyone!

December is time for festive mood and I prepared  three mixed media Christmas cards as inspiration for our Art Recipe this month. I used Prima`s Spring Farm House papers as a base, but I choose neutral  toned  ones and combined them with some cut out elements from This Miracle Night by Craft O`Clock.

Few years ago I took smaller oranges and cut them in even slices. Then I arranged  them on a baking paper and  in the oven they went.

I find them perfect for Christmas cards and they went so well with our moodboard for December. A bit of twine in coral, some Prima poinsettia, Ginger Magic Sparks as accent color, lots of white gesso with a sponge and green leaves colored with Avocado Green Liqiud Acrylic. And I just couldn`t resist not to use some waxes here and there as always. My cards were ready.

ATC`s

 Hello everyone!

My love for small projects has always been there and now with the mini tissue papers is actually very comfortable to create ATC cards and small art journal pages. The designs are still the same but the graphics on them are much smaller and very easy you can make ATC`s like these.

I had this moment when I saw the tissue papers on a canvas for a first time I didn`t wanted to cover it at all. You know you just sit and admire the beautifuI picture and almost don`t want to cover it. The same happened with the small tissue papers.

I primed with white gesso the card bases and then adhered the tissue with clear gesso. I choose to combine them with Fiinabair`s mould shapes as they complement each other perfectly in my opinion. I wanted the tissue to be visible and the images I choose to be easily seen, so I didn`t go too heavy with embellishments on top.

I only added color using some of the new liquid acrylics and gave shine to the mould shapes  with new colors metallique waxes.

After all, sometimes less is more, right?

Altered Box

 Hello everyone!

I love altering. And many times I don`t even show what I altered because it`s too simple. I had this small wooden box with one of the hinges not working properly, that I didn`t want to throw, but in the same time it wasn`t possible to use it. It became the perfect object for alteration. So I just took off the lid, turned it around and used it as some kind of shadow box/reverse canvas.

I used a small part of Wilderness tissue paper to cover the bottom and created nice contrast between the new Prussian blue and Ochre. I loved the combination!

I highlighted the dark parts in the project with new Graphite wax and then the highest parts of the project with White Pearl wax.

I loved this project very much and I think the main reason is the new products. They are versatile, you can use them easily on any surface and the results are always, always incredible.
